Help for people with severe disability who are aged 65 or over.

If you are aged 65 or over and need help w3ith personal care because of an illness or disability, you could be entitled to Attendance Allowance.

  • Attendance Allowance
    • Dose not normally need a medical examination
    • Is not affected by any savings that you have, nor usually by any money that you have coming in
    • Is tax free and not based on national insurance contributions.
  • Who can get Attendance Allowance?

    People may be able to get Attendance Allowance if they are aged 65 or over and need help with personal care.

    People may be able to get Attendance Allowance for help with personal care even if no one actually gives them that help. People could need help with personal care because they

    • Need help with washing, dressing or using the toilet
    • Need someone there to supervise them
    • Need someone with them when they are on dialysis.
  • Rates

    Attendance Allowance provides two rates for help with personal care needed because you have a severe disability.
    • You can get higher rate if you need help both day and night.
    • You can get lower rate if you need help during the day
      or
      if you need help during the night.
